A Dating Scan is an early pregnancy ultrasound performed between 6–12 weeks to confirm the gestational age, expected due date, fetal heartbeat, and overall development of the pregnancy. This safe and non-invasive scan helps identify whether the pregnancy is single or multiple and ensures that the embryo is developing in the correct location. Using high-resolution ultrasound technology, the scan provides clear images and accurate measurements, offering reassurance to expectant parents. During the procedure, a transabdominal scan is usually performed, and in very early stages a transvaginal scan may be recommended for better clarity.
